Mark Broughton

Mark Broughton gets results. In the last 40+ years, as a criminal lawyer, he’s conducted over 200 jury trials and represented thousands of people accused of crimes. Broughton has received many outright not guilty verdicts in all types of cases.

  • Felonies
  • Federal Crimes
  • White Collar Crimes
  • Assault Crimes
  • Gang Crimes
  • Sex Crimes

Broughton is a Criminal Law Specialist certified by the State Bar of California. He’s practiced all over California, in both State and Federal Court. Qualified as a death penalty lawyer, Broughton is also on the special circumstances/death penalty panel of attorneys in Fresno, CA. He is regularly appointed to special and death penalty murder cases by the Fresno County Superior Court. And he proudly serves on the State Bar of California Board of Trustees, as appointed by the Supreme Court.

His legal career began in San Diego, practicing criminal law, civil litigation and personal injury. He and his family moved to Fresno in 1995, after a successful seventeen-year practice in San Diego. Since then, he has practiced criminal law exclusively.

Broughton was the Chief Defense Attorney for a 17-attorney criminal defense law firm. They handled three to four thousand felony cases per year. He later partnered with a very successful criminal law practitioner, where he continues his commitment to help protect the Constitutional rights of his clients.

One of Broughton’s greatest pleasures is teaching and training young lawyers and law students. Most of the people he’s trained have gone on to be successful lawyers and have triumphantly represented their own clients in an honest and professional way.

Brittany Hines

As a Fresno Criminal Lawyer, Brittany Hines operates with intelligence, compassion and humility. She has worked on a number of complex felony cases including homicides and death penalty cases.

Hines was born and raised in the Central Valley. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from California State University Stanislaus. Hines completed her Juris Doctor at San Joaquin College of Law.

During law school, Hines clerked at the Fresno County Public Defender’s Office where she provided legal support on complex, criminal cases. She was also an active member of Delta Theta Phi Law. And she served as Secretary, Vice Dean, and Dean of the fraternity. Hines received the Student of the Year Award and was a member of the student bar association.

After law school she clerked at a local, well-respected criminal law firm. She worked on a variety of criminal law issues and conducted research on procedural and substantive legal issues.

From the time she was young, Hines wanted to be a lawyer. She watched good kids enter into the criminal system for minor crimes and unreasonable plea deals. Her experiences fueled a passion to help minorities find access to justice. She witnessed systematic injustices in the Central Valley and learned an important lesson. Trouble can be easy to get into but hard to get out of.

Today, Hines is involved with the Fresno County Women Lawyers and Young Lawyers Association. She also spends time with the DUI Lawyers Association and the Fresno County Bar Association Criminal Law Section.
