About Jesus Pereda:
Strong Work Ethic & Sense of Compassionate
Jesus Pereda was born in the Salinas Valley and raised in the Central Valley where he witnessed hard-workers contribute to their agricultural communities. He credits these communities for helping him develop a strong work ethic and sense of compassion. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with an option in Accountancy at Fresno State University where he developed an understanding of the intricacies of running a business in the Central Valley. He completed his Juris Doctor at San Joaquin College of Law in Clovis, California where he grew his passion and expertise in the field of Criminal Defense.
During law school, Mr. Pereda clerked at the Fresno County Public Defender’s Office, providing clerical support and legal research services regarding serious criminal cases in the state court systems. He then worked as a Certified Law Clerk at Mark A. Broughton, P.C where he has worked on numerous complex felony cases such as Fraud, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, DUI Causing Great Bodily Injury, and Homicide. Mr. Pereda is currently an Associate Attorney at Mark A. Broughton, P.C. where he works on a variety legal issues so he can accurately advise clients of their legal rights and aggressively advocate for them.
Even as a child Mr. Pereda has wanted to help the people in the community in which he grew up. Growing up in hard working communities Mr. Pereda witnessed those hard workers being subjected to injustices that put their family and livelihoods at risk because of small lapses of good judgment or misunderstandings. From that he has learned that although people make mistakes, they should not be defined solely by their mistakes, and EVERYONE should have the opportunity for redemption. He has seen the great stress the justice system has on people accused of a crime, but he has also seen these situations as opportunities for people to take control of their life by asserting their Constitutional Rights and to move forward with their lives in a positive direction.
While in law school Jesus served as a student representative where he advocated for his fellow student’s interests. He also wrote for the San Joaquin Agricultural Law Review, a legal journal published annually to address legal issues affecting agricultural communities. Throughout his education and career Mr. Pereda has found solace in volunteering in the Fresno Community by helping provide safe spaces for our youth, give them access to mentorship, and enhance their literacy.
Mr. Pereda is currently a member of the Fresno County Bar Association, Fresno County Young Lawyers Association, and La Raza Lawyers Association.
